We are pleased to share a new infographic summarizing the main activities, thematic priorities, and advocacy efforts undertaken by the EU-LAT Network during 2025. As a civil society network with deep roots in the region and committed to defending human rights and strengthening relations between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean, this year was marked by a challenging context: the rise of authoritarian narratives, the progressive shrinking of civic space, and increasing pressure on human rights organizations and defenders in both regions.
In this context, we promoted 167 political advocacy actions related to the EU-LAC relationship, coordinating efforts with allied organizations, communities, and institutional actors in both regions. Our work was based on strategies that prioritize collective action, horizontal relationships, and transparency in public engagement. This included ongoing dialogue with European institutions, strengthening bi-regional alliances, producing research and political analysis, and publicly denouncing democratic backsliding and human rights violations.
At the thematic level, we developed 44 actions on civic space, 83 focused on EU-LAC relations, 13 related to environmental justice, and 27 on mixed themes. From a geographical perspective, we promoted 53 actions related to Mexico and Central America, 19 in South America, and 95 focused on the bi-regional relationship as a whole. Our work stems from a clear conviction: no cooperation agenda, trade agreement, or political summit can be considered legitimate if it excludes the communities and organizations that defend rights in their territories.
We invite you to explore the complete infographic and learn more about how we continue working to strengthen dialogue between civil societies in both regions and promote an EU-LAC relationship based on human rights, justice, and solidarity.
