CAREA e.V. is a German organisation founded in 1995 that promotes the protection of human rights through international accompaniment of defenders and at-risk communities in Mexico and Guatemala. From a solidarity-based, non-partisan approach, it selects, trains and sends volunteers to carry out human-rights observation on the ground, and conducts awareness-raising and political-advocacy work in Germany, with the aim of strengthening local struggles for justice and dignity.
· Red Nacional de Defensoras de Derechos Humanos en México (Red de Defensoras)
The National Network of Women Human Rights Defenders in Mexico (RNDDHMX) is an alliance of more than 300 women defenders and journalists, formed in 2010, with the aim of responding to the violence we women defenders face as a result of our work and our gender, in order to contribute to the sustainability of our struggles. To this end we carry out accompaniment, prevention, comprehensive protection and visibility actions to promote and guarantee the integrity of defenders.
· Iniciativa Mesoamericana de Mujeres Defensoras de Derechos Humanos (Iniciativa Mesoamericana)
The Mesoamerican Initiative of Women Human Rights Defenders (IM-Defensoras) is a local and regional alliance of diverse women human rights defenders, organisations and networks. It currently represents more than 2,250 defenders and 300 organisations from various social movements and territories across the region. It operates in five Mesoamerican countries, through national networks of defenders in El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua, and among allied organisations of defenders in Guatemala. IM-Defensoras is the first large-scale collective effort of its kind to document, denounce and give visibility to acts of violence against Mesoamerican women defenders and to build their collective capacity to protect themselves from this violence.
· Red nacional de Organismos Civiles de Derechos Humanos “Todos los Derechos para Todas y todos” (Red TDT)
The National Network of Civil Human Rights Organisations “All Rights for Everyone” (Red TDT) is a space for encounter and collaboration among human-rights organisations in which joint strategies are developed to make the defence and promotion of all human rights for all people more effective.
It is currently made up of 84 organisations from 23 states of the Mexican Republic.
The groups that make up the Network share the idea that the struggle for human rights must be comprehensive; that is, they do not fight only for some rights to be upheld — their perspective is broad and integrative. They carry out training, defence and promotion of human rights. They are pluralistic, non-partisan and non-governmental organisations.
How does it work?
Red TDT is a civil association. It holds two Assemblies a year in which sessions are held to analyse the human-rights situation in the country, joint activities are discussed and the work strategy is reviewed. To coordinate activities it has a Coordinating Team made up of 5 organisations, one from each region of the country. The Coordinating Team in turn relies on the Network’s Executive Secretariat to run activities, which has an office in Mexico City.

· Red por los Derechos de la Infancia en México (REDIM)
We are a coalition of 72 civil-society organisations, located in 18 states of the Republic, whose purpose is the promotion and defence of children’s rights in Mexico, through advocacy and accountability actions to achieve legal, social and cultural change so that girls, boys and adolescents know, exercise and enjoy their rights.
· Espacio de Organizaciones de la sociedad Civil para la Protección de Personas Defensoras de Derechos Humanos y Periodistas (EOSC)
Espacio OSC is the Space of Civil Society Organisations for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists, made up of Mexican and international organisations working in Mexico, developing joint strategies to make advocacy more effective for the protection of the right to defend human rights and the exercise of freedom of expression in the country.
· Grupo de Trabajo sobre Política Migratoria (GTPM)
The Working Group on Migration Policy is a civil-society network made up of organisations, networks and individuals working for the rights of migrants and people in need of international protection in Mexico. Since 2010 it has coordinated its work to provide technical accompaniment in decision-making spaces, particularly in the Congress of the Union, with the aim of influencing the country’s migration and asylum frameworks from a human-rights, childhood, gender and intercultural perspective.
· Red de Incidencia EU-LAT
The EU-LAT Network is a pluralistic network of European movements and organisations that promote solidarity between the peoples of Latin America and Europe. The network was founded on 11 October 2017 after two European networks — CIFCA (Copenhagen Initiative for Central America and Mexico) and Grupo Sur — decided to join forces in order to strengthen their advocacy work to promote participatory European policies, with a gender perspective, that contribute to the full respect of human rights, democratisation and sustainable development in Latin America.
· Brigadas Internacionales de Paz – México (PBI-México)
PBI’s work is based on a model of international accompaniment — a pioneering PBI strategy to protect human-rights defenders who are at risk because of their work. The accompaniment is based on a logic of physical presence on the ground, international attention and pressure.
A central part of PBI’s work is continuous interaction with defenders, collectives and communities as a sign of moral support and human solidarity.
· Servicio Internacional para la Paz (SiPaz)
SIPAZ (International Service for Peace), an international non-profit organisation with a permanent presence in Mexico since 1995, works for the deterrence and prevention of socio-political violence, the positive transformation of conflicts and respect for human rights in Chiapas and, on specific occasions, in Oaxaca and Guerrero.
· Movimiento Sueco por la Reconciliación (SweFOR)
The Swedish Fellowship of Reconciliation (SweFOR) is part of Swedish civil society. It is an ecumenical organisation created in 1919 and a member of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR), which holds consultative status at the UN. Through the “Peace Service” programme, we provide international accompaniment to human-rights defenders in Latin America: Guatemala, Colombia and Mexico.
· Movimiento Sueco por la Reconciliación (SweFOR)
The Transnational Institute (TNI) is an international research and advocacy institute working for a more just, democratic and sustainable world. For nearly 50 years, TNI has served as a link between social movements, engaged scholars and policymakers.
TNI has earned an international reputation for developing radical, well-founded critiques and for anticipating and documenting key issues long before they became matters of widespread concern, as attested by our work on food and hunger, Third World debt, multinationals and emissions trading.
· Organización Mundial contra la Tortura (OMCT)
The World Organisation Against Torture works with 200 member organisations to eradicate torture and ill-treatment, support victims and protect human-rights defenders at risk, wherever they are.
We work to protect the most vulnerable people in our societies, including women, children, indigenous peoples, migrants and other marginalised groups. To achieve this, we carry out advocacy with governments so that they amend or apply their laws and policies, we help victims obtain justice and we fight to hold those responsible to account.
· Asociación por la Paz y los Derechos Humanos Taula per Mèxic (TxM)
At Taula per Mèxic / Mesa por México we come together with the aim of making visible the human-rights emergency that prevails in Mexico.

Action by Christians for the Abolition of Torture (ACAT-France) is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian organisation for the defence of human rights, founded in 1974, recognised as an organisation of public utility and popular education. It works along three lines:
– International and national advocacy: it calls on governments, institutions and international organisations to advance the cause of human rights.
– Citizen mobilisation: through an active network of activists, it runs campaigns to support victims and raise public awareness.
– Intervention with victims: it provides support to torture victims and their families, especially through its advocacy work.
